axolotl kaufen SAND as a turtle substrate - i don't like it [sometimes]

sometimes sand as a turtle substrate isn't my favorite...but not for the reasons you think! I actually love the way sand looks, but today i'm sharing some of the issues and struggles i've experienced with using it at the bottom of my turtle tanks. i'm still sticking with sand as my substrate of choice, but it's good to be aware of the pros and cons before you decide :)

**NOTE**
i never recommend using gravel in a turtle tank, due to the impaction risks associated with it. a curious turtle can easily try to eat the small pea sized pebbles and become very sick. please consider other alternatives if you don't wish to use sand, such as tile, bare bottom, or even large river rocks that are too big for the turtle to even try to eat. personally, i prefer to be safe rather than sorry.
